Certain types of projects fall under the
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) requirements of the
Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). These are called
GROUP I: ENVIRONMENTALLY CRITICAL PROJECTS (ECPs) which are located in both
Environmentally Critical Areas (ECAs) and
Non-ECAs, as declared in and Presidential Proclamation No. 803 (1996) for Golf Courses, and Presidential Proclamation No. 2146 (1981) for Heavy and Resource Extractive Industries & Infrastructure Projects.
These projects include the ff:
- Golf Courses
- Iron and Steel Mills
- Non-Ferrous Metal Industries
- Petroleum an Petrochemical Industries
- Smelting Plants
- Fishery projects
- Forestry projects such as logging and grazing projects
- Major Mining and Quarrying Projects (coal, open pit, limestone, oil, metallic and non-metallic minerals)
- Infrastructure Projects such as roads, bridges, dams, railways and tunnels
- Major Power Plants such as fuel cell, gas-fired power plants, geothermal and hydropower facilities, deisel, bunker and coal-fired power plants
If your proposed project is under Group I, then your project will require a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Report to secure an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
